Especially in light of the many "go green" initiatives, many people have chosen to use the electric scooter as a more environmentally friendly means of personal transportation. Aside from the ecological advantages of using an electric scooter, increasingly high gas prices are prompting many adults to save money by using a scooter instead of a car.

  • Foot powered scooter
  • Direct current, battery powered engine
  • Direct current power operator
  • Bike chain
  • Electrical wire
  • Bolts
  • Sprockets
  • Velcro straps
  • Instant adhesive

Instructions

    • 1

      Bolt a sprocket onto the crankshaft of the engine. The crankshaft is a metal rod that sticks out from the engine. Take your foot powered scooter and attach a sprocket onto the axle of the rear wheel.

      Attach the engine to the platform of the scooter using Velcro straps. Add instant adhesive to the Velcro straps for additional security.

      Wrap a bike chain around the sprocket that you attached to the engine. Loop it around the other sprocket that you attached to the axle of the back wheel.

      Wire the engine to the direct current power operator. This enables you to turn the engine on and off.
