How to Set an Animated Signature Online

A signature is a small image or banner often used at the bottom of an online forum post. In order to use an animated image in your signature, you must upload the picture to a file or website host, which will create a URL address for the image. If you do not have your own website host, you can upload your picture to a free image hosting service instead. Once you have the URL address for your image, you can place the animated picture in your forum signature.

Instructions

    • 1

Upload your animated signature image to an image hosting service such as ImageShack, Flickr or Photobucket.

    • 2

Record the URL address the service provides for the uploaded image file.

    • 3

Highlight the following code, right-click and select “Copy” from the menu:

    • 4

Log in to the forum and navigate to your user control panel.

    • 5

Click the “Signature” section of your user profile to edit your signature. This will provide you with a text box where you enter your signature text.

    • 6

Right-click in the text box and select “Paste” from the menu. This will place the image code in your signature.

    • 7

Replace “ImageURL” with the actual URL address of your animated image.

    • 8

Save the changes to your signature. When you create a new forum post or reply to an existing one, the animated image will appear below your post text.
