There's nothing worse than a pair of stinky rain boots. Often water gets inside the boot and that paired with a warm, sweaty foot equals a serious odor. Another factor is that rain boots are made of plastic or rubber and they don't breathe, allowing all sorts of odor causing bacteria to grow and thrive inside the boot. By following a few simple steps, you can take the stink out of your rain boots.

Mix one one part vinegar to for parts water and pour into rubber boot after removing the insole. Scrub the inside of the boot out with a soft brush. Rinse with clean water and let boots dry in the open air.

Mix 2 Tbs. of baking soda with a cup of hydrogen peroxide and a quart of distilled water. Pour the solution into the boots and scrub with a soft brush. Remove the insoles and scrub those separately.

Pour a small amount of liquid dishwashing dtergent into each boot and scrub with a soft brush. Put the rubber rain boots through the gently dish washing cycle. The hot water kills the bacteria that cause the odor.
