How to Clean a Hemp Hat

Hemp is sometimes called a miracle fabric. It is known to be incredibly durable and weather-resistant. Environmentalists love it because it consumes little water compared to trees, is easy to grow and produces little waste. Manufacturers love it because it is cheap and versatile. When it comes to cleaning your hemp hat, there's not much to it, with a few basic items you most likely have in your home.

Things You'll Need

• Natural, bleach-free detergent
• Small brush
• Baking soda
• White vinegar

Instructions

1. Put your hemp hat in the washer if it's labelled "machine washable." Use the washing machine setting indicated on the label or wash it on the delicate setting if there is no label specification. Use a natural detergent without bleach. Once it's out of the washer, lay your hemp hat out to air-dry.

2. Hand-wash your hemp hat if it has no washing instructions or is embroidered. Use a natural detergent and set it out to air-dry.

3. Spot-clean your hemp hat if it has a small dirt blemish or if the washing instructions specify spot-cleaning. Use a small brush, water and white vinegar or baking soda. Air-dry it out of direct sunlight.
