DIY Pea Tower
Nothing beats the taste of fresh green peas grown right in your own backyard garden. However, trying to grow peas without a sufficient support will not produce the bounty you had envisioned. Although you can buy supports, such as a pea tower, from a garden supply store, they are often costly. Make your own pea tower using a few inexpensive materials. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 10 bamboo poles
- Measuring tape
- Shears
- Twine
- Hammer
- 10 gutter spikes
- Pea plants

Cut 10 dried bamboo poles to measure 6 feet using shears, and form all of the bamboo poles into a conic tepee shape.

Cut a piece of twine to measure 24 inches and wrap the twine around the top of the tepee where all of the ends meet. Tie the twine into a tight knot to secure the form in place.

Spread the bottom ends apart to form the tepee and push the ends into the ground where you want the pea tower to sit.

Hammer a 6-inch gutter spike into the ground, one directly in front of each bamboo pole. Position each spike at a 90-degree angle.

Cut 10 pieces of twine to measure 6-inches long. Wrap a piece of twine around each spike to secure it onto its respective bamboo pole.

Plant pea plants around the outside of the pea tower, spacing the plants at least 2 inches apart.
