Instructions

    • 1

Purchase large cardboard or white chipboard sheets from your local arts and craft store. Select medium-thin sheets that are strong but can easily be cut with scissors.

    • 2

Measure the length and height of the table against which you'll position the sign. Cut your cardboard or chipboard 4 inches longer than the width of the table. This will give you extra material to secure to the table. Keep the height of your sign approximately 2 inches smaller than the height of the table. You don't want it touching the ground, but you do want space for large letters.

    • 3

Cover the cardboard with bright-colored wrapping paper. Use single-colored wrapping paper or wrapping paper with a festive pattern. Secure the wrapping paper at the back of the sign with sticky tape. This step is optional if you're using the white side of a chipboard sheet.

    • 4

Write the name of the booth in the center of the sign with a thick, dark-colored marker. As an alternative, use paint or construction paper cutouts to make the letters.

    • 5

Decorate the area around the letters. Use ribbons, streamers and markers to enhance your sign.

    • 6

Attach balloons to the upper corners or your sign, and position it in front of the designated table to complete your carnival booth.

Tips & Warnings

  • Instead of purchasing cardboard or chipboard sheets, cut out the walls of a large cardboard box.

  • Instead of creating standard square-shaped signs, you can make round, triangle or cloud-shaped signs.

  • To hold up your sign, attach it to one or more wooden stakes.
