How to Use iSync With the Samsung Captivate
The Samsung Captivate runs the Android 2.2 operating system, which is not compatible by default with Apple's iSync protocol. Third-party iSync plug-ins allow you to use iSync with this phone, but iSync itself has been deprecated with the release of Mac OS X 10.7 Lion, so you may want to consider using an alternative synchronization method.

Choose a third-party provider for an iSync plug-in that provides compatibility with the Samsung Captivate. Apple recommends plug-ins from DataPilot, Mactomster and Nova Media.

Purchase and install the iSync plug-in of your preference.

Turn on Bluetooth on both your Samsung Captivate and your Mac. Pair these devices if you have not already done so; you only have to do this once. Open the Bluetooth preference pane in System Preferences on your Mac and click the "+" button; the Mac walks you through the steps to pair the devices.

Launch iSync to set up synchronization and complete the sync. Open iSync's preferences if you would like to add iSync to your menu bar, allowing you to synchronize your devices in the future without launching the iSync application.

Your Samsung Captivate and Apple applications can also be synchronized through Google cloud services using Mac OS X 10.5 or later. Google automatically keeps the Captivate synchronized, and both Address Book and iCal can subscribe to your online cloud storage. This method is preferable if you intend to upgrade your Mac to Mac OS X 10.7 or later, as iSync is no longer used in these versions.
