How to Sew a Felt Hedgehog
Hedgehog crafts can be made from almost any medium, including felt, wool, wood, cloth or just about any other material imaginable. They can be found in children's rooms along with a teddy bear or in sewing circles to be used as pin cushions. They can nestle in corners as aesthetic creatures from the woods, or as animated figures that display slogans or sayings. You can sew a small hedgehog for your own home in minutes using wool and felt.

1
Fold and wrap gray wool into a ball the size of a large softball. Wrap it dense, but don't wrap it so tight that it loses its ball shape.
-
2
Poke the darning needle through the wool. Use the hook at the end to pull and tug small fibers out of the ball. Do this over and over, poking the needle through the wool ball, then pulling and tugging out fibers until the ball looks fuzzy.

3
Cut a piece of brown felt into a 1 1/2-inch-by-2-inch strip with scissors.
-
4
Wind the felt strip around the end of a cotton swab to form a small cone. This will be the nose of the hedgehog. Pull on one end of the brown wool so that it's slightly pointed at one end. Use a needle and thread to sew the nose onto the front of the body. One end of the ball should look more like the head.
-
5
Cut a small tail from the felt. Sew it to the opposite end from the nose.
-
6
Cut the hedgehog's four feet from brown felt in 3/4-inch-by-1 1/2-inch, oval-shaped strips. Using a needle and thread, sew the feet onto the bottom of the ball of wool.
-
7
Cut two small triangles from the brown felt for the ears. Sew them to the top of the hedgehog's head. Sew small black beads to the base of the nose for the eyes.

Tips & Warnings
You can adorn your hedgehog any way you like it. You can sew on more triangles to the body to resemble a spiky hedgehog, or even sew on larger feet or noses for an exaggerated effect. There are all kinds of interpretations of this little creature, so be creative.
Use caution when handling needles, especially when working with children.
