How to Make VobSub Work with a Nero Recode
Nero uses VobSub-based subtitles in Recode 2 and above. Built-in subtitles should play normally in Nero Showtime, as long as you click the "Subtitle" button to make them active. You can play VobSub subtitles using the appropriate filter to display them. The plug-in loads the subtitle and plays it automatically whenever you launch the video. Since the subtitles are separate, they are watchable only on a computer with a supported media player.
Instructions
-
Renaming Files
-
1
Open the folder containing the video to ensure it is in the same folder as the subtitles.
-
2
Drag the subtitles to the same folder, if necessary, or click Organize and select Copy, and then click Organize and select Paste, to transfer them to the video folder.
-
-
3
Compare the two files; the file names should be identical.
-
4
Click the video file if the names do not match, and then right-click to open the context menu. Select Rename, then right-click and select Copy. Make sure only the letters to the left of the dot are highlighted before copying.
-
5
Right-click the subtitle file and select Rename.
-
6
Right-click and then select Paste. The title should match the video file's exactly, with the exception of the three-letter extension at the end.
Filter Installation
-
7
Download the filter from videohelp.com and click "Open." If you do not have a program that opens ZIP files, download one from 7-zip.org, winzip.com or winrar.com.
-
8
Double-click vsfilter.exe.
-
9
Wait while vsfilter.dll is installed in the proper folder and registered.
-
10
Click "Close." The next time you run Nero, the subtitles will display, if the option is enabled.

Tips & Warnings
If the VobSub subtitles still won't load in Nero, try Windows Media Player, PowerDivX or VLC Media Player.
VobSub v2.23 includes a plug-in that is compatible with versions of Windows prior to Vista. Install VobSub; during setup, place a check by "VobSub for DirectShow" in the Plugins menu.
