Instructions

    • 1

Shampoo, condition and dry your hair as you normally do.

    • 2

Plug in your crimping iron, so it can start heating up. Use a crimping iron with ridges that are close together, so you get a tighter crimped look.

    • 3

Spray a heat-protecting spray on your hair. Comb through your hair to distribute the spray. Heat-protecting spray shields your hair from the damage caused by heat from styling tools.

    • 4

Comb or brush your hair to the side of your head that you want your ponytail to sit on.

    • 5

Gather your hair in one hand. Hold it high above your ear, approximately 1 inch from the center of your scalp. Secure it with a fabric-covered elastic band.

    • 6

Crimp the ponytail from the top to the bottom. Separate a 1-inch section of hair from the ponytail and place it between the crimping iron plates. Squeeze the plates together for up to three seconds. Release the plates and slide the crimping iron down, to crimp the hair below. Continue crimping the hair until the entire ponytail has a wavy look to it.

    • 7

Rub an anti-frizz serum in your hands. Lightly squeeze your crimped strands in your hands to distribute the serum, and to keep your hair from getting frizzy.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you don't have a crimping iron, make a one or more tight braids in damp hair. Secure the braids with a fabric-covered elastic band and keep them in overnight. Take out the braids in the morning and finger-comb your hair.
