Sweater scarves are often thick and heavy.

Wrapping your neck in a sweater scarf is a wise way to stay both warm and fashionable. Sweater scarf trends were in the works as early as 1917, according to The Costumer's Manifesto. During the early 20th century, sweater scarves resembled a standard sweater that draped over the shoulders and buttoned near the midsection. In modern times, sweater scarves are constructed with traditional rectangular scarf designs and employ traditional sweater-making materials -- wool, for example. Securing a two-button sweater scarf is a straightforward process, preventing unwanted breeze from reaching your sensitive skin. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Grip the end of the scarf with the two attached buttons. Place and gently press the same end of the scarf on the front side of your body at the base of your neck. Adjust the scarf so the buttons are facing out.

    • 2

Loop the remaining scarf material around your neck. Hold the end with the buttons in place so it remains unmoved. Overlap the scarf layers one atop the other without covering the buttons. Continue wrapping and adjusting the scarf materials until the opposite end is adjacent to the end with the buttons. Wrap the scarf so it remains taught, but not tight enough to feel constricting.

    • 3

Insert each button through the respective hole in the scarf end to keep the neck-wear attached. Adjust the scarf so the buttoned ends are slightly off-center, resting above the left or right portion of the chest.
