How to Troubleshoot the ScanSnap Manager
Fujitsu offers a software package with its ScanSnap hardware to manage the use of the scanner. With this program, you control all aspects of the scanning process. For example, the ScanSnap Manager allows to you to set the brightness of the scan and configure whether your image appears in color or black and white. Click on the Windows icon at the bottom of your desktop and locate the ScanSnap software in the "Start" menu. The program has an option to create an icon on your task bar and desktop. If the icons disappear, you must open the software from the Start menu.

Open the Fujitsu software support page on your computer browser. Download the appropriate software package to reinstall the manager if it fails to open. Follow the on-screen instructions for installation.

Unplug the scanner from your computer if the manager software does not recognize the device. Click on the Windows icon at the bottom of your desktop and select "Control Panel." Open the "Device Manager" from the Control Panel. Locate the driver for the scanner and right-click on it, then select uninstall from the menu. Turn off the computer and plug the scanner back into the USB port before rebooting. This forces Windows to reinstall the driver.

Right-click on the software screen and select "Use Quick Menu" if the Quick Task menu is not open. Turn the Quick Menu off if you have problems finding an application. This opens the full menu with advanced options.

Select the "Scan and Save" option from the Quick Menu to set scan controls such as brightness. If the image appears too dark or light on the computer screen, use this option to adjust the settings.
