How to Wrinkle Your Text in Fireworks

You’re staring at the Adobe Fireworks canvas, wondering how to make your image stand out. Whether you’re creating a logo for your home business or making graphics for your website, you can add excitement to text by giving it a wrinkled texture. You can also eschew the straight-lined, vanilla text alignment and put the text on a wavy path to stimulate movement.

Instructions

  1. Create Textured Text

    • 1

Click on the text tool icon in the “Vector” panel of the toolbar, click on the canvas and enter the text to be textured.

    • 2

Click on the paint bucket icon in the “Colors” panel of the toolbar.

    • 3

Select “Web Dither” from the “Source color” menu.

    • 4

Select a texture from the “Texture” menu. Wrinkle options include “Parchment” and “Sandpaper.”

    • 5

Click on the transparency menu next to the “Texture” menu and select a texture transparency. A higher percentage will make the texture more visible.

    Create Wavy Text

    • 6

Click on the text tool icon in the “Vector” panel of the toolbar, click on the canvas and enter your text.

    • 7

Click on the “Pen” tool icon in the “Vector” panel of the toolbar. You can also hold the mouse button down and select “Vector path tool” if you wish to draw the path freehand.

    • 8

Click and drag the mouse to create your path.

    • 9

Click the selection pointer in the “Select” panel of the toolbar.

    • 10

Hold the “Shift” button down and click on both the text and path.

    • 11

Click the “Text” menu and click “Attach to path.” The text will conform to the wavy path.

Tips & Warnings

  • Apply both wrinkled texture and wavy path to the text for additional effect.

  • Download additional textures if the default patterns don't appeal to you.
