How to Undistort a Zoomed in Picture on Google Maps

The Google Maps online map application lets you view your map in one of two ways; you can view the map using Google's generic map images or you can view it using satellite images. If you choose to view your map using satellite images, there is a chance the images will appear distorted and blur as you zoom in on them. This issue has a quick fix that does not require any action on the part of the user, only patience.

Instructions

    • 1

Open a Web browser and navigate to Google.com. Click the "Maps" option at the top of the Google home page to navigate to the Google Maps application.

    • 2

Type the name or address of the location that you want to search for in the space provided and click the "Search" button. Google Maps will now search for the location.

    • 3

Click on the "Map" icon in the upper-right corner of the map window. The icon will now change to the "Satellite" icon and the map will be composed of satellite images.

    • 4

Click the "Zoom" slider and slide it up to zoom in on the location. As you zoom, the satellite image will become distorted and pixelated.

    • 5

Release the "Zoom" slider to set the zoom level. Wait several seconds for Google Maps to recognize the zoom level. Once the zoom level is set and recognized, Google Maps will automatically de-pixelate and un-distort the image.
