How to Make Different Shapes Out of a Party Streamer

By shaping streamers, the fun doesn't have to stop after the party.

Streamers can instantly add a festive splash of color to an event or party. The thin strips of material, which come in many colors, are often hung from banisters, ceilings or doorways to add a fun atmosphere to the room. Once the party or event is over, you don't need to throw out your party streamers. Making shapes out of party streamers is a fun activity that the entire family can enjoy.

Instructions

Making a Bow

1. Place a 1-inch wide, 36-inch long streamer horizontally on a table. Use a crepe or shiny metallic streamer in the color of your choice.

2. Pick up the right and left ends of the streamer and cross them over each other in the center so a loop forms.

3. Cut off a 12-inch long streamer and fold it in half. Use a 1-inch wide streamer made from the same material as your loop.

4. Place the folded strip vertically over the center of your loop and wind it around the streamer material so a bow-shape starts forming. Secure the end of the strip with a piece of translucent sticky tape.

5. Cut the tail ends of your bow to the desired length. Carefully open up and shape the bow with your hands. Use double-sided sticky tape on the back of your bow to attach it in the desired location.

Making a Flower

1. Place a 6-inch long crepe streamer horizontally on a table. Use a streamer that is at least 1 inch wide.

2. Roll up the streamer from one end to the other. Avoid tightly rolling up the streamer. The coils must be loose.

3. Bunch together the bottom of the rolled-up streamer. Secure it with a piece of translucent sticky tape. This will be the bottom of your flower.

4. Hold the bottom of the rolled up streamer in one hand. Fan out all the layers of the rolled up streamer with your other hand. These layers will start resembling petals.

Tips & Warnings

• Create a bunch of flowers in different colors and place them in a small bowl to make a table centerpiece.

• Give your flower a stem by sticking a wooden stick or wire pipe cleaner to the bottom part.
