How to Apply Shimmery Eyeshadow as Eyeliner Underneath Your Eyes thumbnail
Shimmery eyeshadow can be quite subtle or dramatic.

Shimmery eyeshadow can be used as a light, powdery eyeliner. Unlike pencil eyeliner, it's easy to blend and blur the edges of eyeshadow for a subtle, natural look. Eyeshadow also can be applied in layers for a dramatic evening look. If you've never used eyeshadow with glitter in it, do a patch test on the corner of your eye 24 hours prior to application. Some people develop painful allergic reactions to glitter eyeshadow. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

Wash your face to remove excess sweat and oil. Eyeliner easily smears if your face isn't clean. Apply your normal foundation, and then apply a sweep of pressed powder all over your face and around your eyelids using a powder brush. This gives the eyeshadow something to stick to and decreases smudging.

Use an eyeshadow brush for a subtle, natural look. Sweep the brush into the eyeshadow. Look up and use your free hand to gently tug the outer corner of your eye so that your eyelid is taut. Apply the eyeshadow using short, feathery strokes and brush over the line with the brush for a polished, smudge-free look.

Apply eyeshadow with an eyeliner brush for a more dramatic, glamorous look. Moisten the tip of the brush and rub it in the eyeshadow using a circular motion. Pull your lower eyelid taut and apply an even line. Apply another coat if you want more pigment. Use the eyeshadow brush to smudge the eyeshadow for a smokey-eyed look.

Tips & Warnings

  • Try lining your lower inner eyelids with white eyeliner. This makes your eyes look bigger and clearer.
