How to Make a Snowman With Marshmallows, Pretzels and Junior Mints

Marshmallows look like miniature snowballs, so they make the perfect start for a miniature snowman. When the weather does not allow you to make real snowmen outdoors, use marshmallows and other common foods to create indoor snowmen. The project is easy enough for children in preschool or older to make. They can eat the treat right away, help make many snowmen for a party or set up a marshmallow snowman outside a gingerbread house. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

  1. Small Snowman

    • 1

Set a marshmallow on your work surface, put a pea-sized dab of white icing on top of it and press a second marshmallow on it. Put another dab of icing on the top of the second one and press a third marshmallow on for the snowman's head.

    • 2

Stick two pretzel sticks into the sides of the center marshmallow to make the snowman's arms. They can be pointing in whatever direction you want the snowman to be expressing. Raised arms look joyful, arms pointing down look peaceful and arms pointing forward look like the snowman wants to hug someone.

    • 3

Put a small dab of icing on the bottom of each miniature chocolate chip and press them onto the marshmallow snowman to make his eyes, mouth and buttons.

    • 4

Break off the end of a pretzel stick and push it into the center of the snowman's face as his nose.

    • 5

Put a pea-sized dab of icing in the center of a chocolate cookie. Gently press a Junior Mint onto it to make his hat. Attach the hat to the top of his head with another dab of icing.

    • 6

Tie a strip of fruit snack around the snowman's neck as a scarf. The pretzel arms will keep the scarf from slipping down, or you can attach it in the back with some icing between the scarf and his neck.

    Large Snowman

    • 7

Thread two jumbo marshmallows onto a large pretzel rod as if you were threading them onto a stick to roast them over a fire.

    • 8

Press a third jumbo marshmallow onto the top of the pretzel rod, but do not push the rod all the way through. Push the first two marshmallows up if needed so all three marshmallows are touching.

    • 9

Decorate the snowman as described above, using larger candies if desired to make his features more prominent.
