How to Set Up Tumblr on a Subdomain With DNS
To users who don't have the time, patience or knowledge to install WordPress to their domains, Tumblr is like a breath of fresh air. Setting up a "tumblog" on a new or existing subdomain takes almost no effort; unlike with WordPress, there are no files to download or unpackage, no databases to create, no PHP documents to configure and no scripts to run. You can link the subdomain to Tumblr through a domain name system editor.

Tips & Warnings
To set up Tumblr on a new subdomain, rather than an existing one, enter the URL for the desired subdomain into the Name field, set TTL to 14400 and use the same information as above to configure the address and type. Click "Add Record" to append the subdomain to the zone file.
Depending on your Web host, it may take an hour to several days for the subdomain to redirect your Tumblr.
