How to Make Crossed Out Text on Facebook

How to Make Crossed Out Text on Facebook thumbnail
Copy and paste Unicode strikethrough characters onto Facebook to have the crossed out text effect.

Crossed-out, or strikethrough text, is text that is crossed through with a horizontal line, commonly created using the HTML tag <strike>. However, because Facebook won't allow users to post HTML, you can create your strikethrough text as Unicode characters in an online generator and then copy and paste the text into Facebook. The Unicode character is an actual strikethrough character that inherently includes the strikethrough, rather than regular text simply adorned with the HTML strikethrough attribute.

Instructions

    • 1

      Open your Internet browser.

    • 2

Go to an online Unicode strikethrough text generator tool such as the ones on AdamVarga.com, CrazyDaVinci.net, SpecialStatus.net or Herp.in.

    • 3

Type the text you want to appear on Facebook as crossed-out text into the input field.

    • 4

Click the provided "Go" or "Generate" button to create the Unicode strikethrough text characters.

    • 5

Select the text and press the "Crtl" and "C" keys on your keyboard to copy it.

    • 6

Open the Facebook page or profile where you want to post the crossed-out text.

    • 7

Click in the status box to move the cursor there. Press the "Ctrl" and "V" keys on your keyboard to paste in the crossed-out text.

    • 8

Click the "Share" button to post the text to Facebook.
