How to Loom Knit Ped Slippers
Ped slippers, or pedicure slippers, are open-toed mules designed for pampering feet. These slippers allow freshly painted toenails to dry without being smeared by closed toes while allowing the wearer to walk on chilly floors in comfort. Though these slippers are usually made from terrycloth in spas, making them by hand on a knitting loom will add a personal touch, making them ideal for giving as a gift or simply showing off your crafty side. Unless you are very confident in your designing skills, it is always best to start with a pattern.

1
Anchor your strand of yarn on one of the loom's pegs, holding it steady with your hand. Weave your yarn in between each of the loom's pegs, pivoting on the last peg when you have enough stitches to satisfy your pattern's requirements for the soles. Go back over the loom with stitches again, alternating the pattern from your original weave. This should leave one loop on each side of the loom's pegs.
-
2
Pivot on the first loom peg and repeat the process until each side of the loom's pegs has two stitches. Tie the loose end of the yarn, anchored in your hand, to the end of the yarn with which you have been weaving.

3
Pull the bottom stitches up over the top stitches on each of the pegs using the loom pick. Begin with the stitches at the end and work your way back to the beginning. In this case, the beginning is the side with the knot you just tied.
-
4
Continue weaving until you have completed the required amount of length for the sole. Cast off the stitches by putting the end stitch over the stitch to its left, then pulling the lower stitch over. Continue this process until all the stitches are off the loom, then knot the end. Create four soles according to your pattern's specifications.
-
5
Create a band to go across the top of the slippers. The band should be between 2 and 4 inches in length and measure as wide as your foot. Based on your stitch requirements for the slippers' soles, determine how many stitches you need to cast onto your loom in order for the band to be wide enough. Cast the stitches on in the same way you performed the task in Steps 1 and 2.
-
6
Loom knit the band until it reaches your specifications, then cast off. Make a second band to go on the opposite slipper.
-
7
Cut your fusible interfacing to be one-half inch smaller than the slipper soles all the way around its perimeter, then cut a second piece of interfacing in a mirror image for the opposite foot. The interfacing will give the slippers a bit of added strength, ensuring that the soles do not wear through. Place the two knitted soles on the top and bottom of the fusible interfacing and iron the layers together.
-
8
Place the bands over the tops of the slippers, tucking the ends in between the two knitted layers of the soles until the band reaches the fused portion. Sew the bands in place, then sew all the way around the slippers' perimeters to keep the fused bond strong.
