Instructions

    • 1

Have your child stand up straight without shoes and feet spaced about six inches apart. Be sure that your child is not wearing bulky clothing or many layers. She can wear fitted undergarments or try to keep the clothing as light as possible to get the most accurate measurements.

    • 2

Measure the bust by keeping the measuring tape parallel to the floor and stretching it across the widest part of the child's chest.

    • 3

Keep one finger between the measuring tape and her body. Measure her waist by placing the tape where her pants would normally reach and wrap it around her body until both ends connect.

    • 4

Have her stand with her heels together and measure around the fullest part of her hips with the measuring tape.

    • 5

Measure the girth by holding the measuring tape on the top of her shoulder. Let the tape run down comfortably in the front of the body, through the crotch and back up the same shoulder.

    • 6

Find a pair of your child's pants with the best fit and similar material to that of the recital dress. Measure the inseam by gathering the number of inches to the nearest half-inch from the crotch to the bottom of the pants.

    • 7

Figure out where your child stands in terms of size by comparing her measurements with the provided recital dress graph located on the dress order form.

Tips & Warnings

  • Anticipate growth when comparing measurements. If she happens to grow in a few months, the cushion in the measurements can help her fit nicely into the recital dress. Be sure to read all instructions on the order form to see if these sizes tend to run small or big.
