How to Lock the Speed & Duplex on a VMware Flexible

VMware is an application from VMware, Inc. that allows users to run virtual operating systems. One of the components included in some versions of VMware is vSphere, a cloud-computing virtualization application. This program can connect to hosts by using a variety of virtual adapters, such as Flexible adapters. By default, vSphere automatically chooses the best speed and duplex setting to optimize connectivity. Speed and duplex refers to the transfer rate between your local computer and the host. If you prefer to select a specific speed and duplex transfer rate and force VMware to use it always, you can do so by connecting to the host computer and using its configuration tool.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch the vSphere client on your computer and log in to the host as an administrator or root user by selecting its Internet protocol address from the drop-down menu, typing a username and password, and clicking "Login."

    • 2

Click the "Configuration" tab in the "VMware ESX server" window that opened after you successfully connected to the host.

    • 3

Click "Networking" and click "Properties" next to the name of the switch you want to edit.

    • 4

Open the "Network adapters" tab, select a network adapter and click the "Edit" button. Select a new speed and duplex setting from the drop-down menu.
