You can stream Quicktime files to an Apple TV with AirPlay.

Apple introduced a technology in 2011 called AirPlay that lets users stream music and other media content from a computer or mobile device to a remote speaker system or an Apple TV. The iTunes application, which is compatible with both Mac and Windows computers, includes AirPlay functionality. In order to stream a Quicktime song or movie with AirPlay, you must first import it into your iTunes library.

Instructions

      Launch the iTunes application on your Mac or PC computer.

      Go to "File" in the top menubar and choose the "Add to Library" command.

      Select the Quicktime song or movie that you want to play and click "Open" to import it into your iTunes library.

      Double-click on the name of the Quicktime file you just imported to start playing it.

      Click on the AirPlay icon in the lower-right corner of the main iTunes window.

      Select the name of the Apple TV or remote speaker system to begin streaming the Quicktime file with AirPlay.
