How to Make a Balloon Arch for Candyland Theme
Candyland is a preschool game made by Hasbro. To play, kids race game pieces through a magical land made of candy, advancing by drawing cards of different colors. This game is a common theme for children parties, featuring the Candyland characters, locations and types of candy. When decorating for a Candyland-themed party, a colorful balloon arch can be built to welcome guests. Because the Candyland game board features spaces of the colors red, purple, yellow, blue, orange and green, these colors of balloons will match the rest of the party's decorations. 1
Measure the balloon arch strip to the desired length. The archway should be large enough for people to walk through. The strip can be curled into a spiral to provide a twisting pattern of the balloon. For a 7-foot-tall archway with approximately 200 balloons, cut a strip about 17 feet long.
-
2
Tie an anchor weight to the end of the balloon arch.

-
3
Inflate a balloon with helium and tie off the end.
-
4
Squeeze the end of the balloon under the knot and slide this through the first hole in the balloon strip.
-
5
Repeat Steps 3 and 4, alternating the colors in the order of the game board: red, purple, yellow, blue, orange and green. Continue this pattern until the arch is the desired length.
-
6
Cut off any of the unused balloon arch strip.
-
7
Tie the other anchor weight to this end of the balloon arch.

Tips & Warnings
The balloon arch strip is just a thin piece of plastic that holds the balloons in place. If too much is trimmed off or more is desired, tape the end to a longer piece.
Balloons can be filled with either helium or air, but if air is used, something needs to support the arch. Helium will naturally raise the arch.
