Transform an ordinary tissue box into a furry puppy tissue box..

Having the sniffles is never fun. However, you can brighten up your sick child's day with a homemade puppy tissue box. An adorable puppy will hold her tissues in its belly and it replaces her usual boring tissue box. If she feels up to it, you may even want to allow her to share in the fun of creating the puppy tissue box craft with you.

  • Velvet fabric
  • Pencil
  • Black marker

Instructions

    • 1

Open the seal on a box of tissues. Use a tissue box that has four longer, rectangular sides and two square-shaped sides rather than a box that has six equal-sized sides.

    • 2

Measure the length and width of all six sides of the box, and cut out six pieces of velvet fabric sized to cover the surface area of each side. The color fabric that you use will depend on the color puppy you are making.

    • 3

Apply glue to the fabric and cover the similar-sized sides of the box with the fabric. Allow the glue to dry.

    • 4

Cut a slit in the fabric on the top of the box to allow access to the tissues.

    • 5

Draw a puppy's face that is slightly larger than the square-shaped sides of the tissue box on a sheet of white card stock.

To draw a basic puppy face, start with a stick figure with no arms and short legs in the center of the card stock. Next, draw three dots to the left and right of the stick figure's body. Draw a large circle around the dots and the stick figure, and then draw two half ovals about one-fourth of an inch apart on top of the large circle for eyes. Color in two black circles inside of the eyes for pupils. Draw a dome shape over the puppy's eyes, beginning and ending on both sides of the large circle. Lastly, draw two ears on each side of the puppy's head. You can make them as long, short or floppy as you like.

    • 6

Color in the puppy's face using crayons, markers or paint, and then cut out the face.

    • 7

Glue the puppy's face to the front end of the box so that about half of the head extends past the top edge of the box.

    • 8

Twist a pipe cleaner into a spiral pattern, and glue the pipe cleaner in the center of the back end of the box to serve as the puppy's tail.

    • 9

Cut an empty toilet paper role into four even cylinders for paws. Cover each paw in the same color velvet that you used to cover the tissue box earlier. Glue the four paws to the bottom of the tissue box to complete the puppy.

Tips & Warnings

  • It is not necessary to throw away your puppy tissue box once all of the tissues have run out. Remove the tissues from a new box and transfer them into the puppy tissue box.
