How to Make Transition Strip Laminate Flooring
Laminate is a common choice for flooring, because it is generally considered easy to install, comes in many colors and is inexpensive to purchase. When transitioning laminate flooring to another room or to another type of flooring, you can use a transition strip to bridge the gap. You can purchase several types of transition strips to match your laminate flooring. The transition strips come in many profiles to fit your flooring situation. Things You'll Need
- Vacuum
- Measuring tape
- Transition strip
- Pencil
- Miter saw
- Construction adhesive

Clean the area where you will install the transition strip. Use a vacuum to remove dust or debris.

Measure the area where you will install the strip with a measuring tape. Use those measurements to purchase the correct size transition strip for the floor.

Mark you measurements on the transition strip with a pencil. Cut the transition strip using a miter saw.

Apply construction adhesive to the back of the transition strip molding. Set the molding in place on the floor. There should be a ¼ inch expansion gap on either side of the bottom portion of the transition strip. Let the adhesive dry overnight before use.
