How to Run Away From the Helicopter in "American Wasteland"
In "Tony Hawk's American Wasteland," your character, an amateur skateboarder, runs away from home to prove his skills in Los Angeles. Upon arrival, he joins a skate team, and his job is to collect parts and decorations for the team's park. A skater named Boone asks him to pick up a few new parts, and he wants the character to ride a helicopter around the city to do it.

Head to the police station and skate through the gate by the bus to reach the police station roof.

Skate over to Boone to accept his challenge. When the challenge starts, skate over to the helicopter on the roof. Jump up to grab a part of the helicopter.

Hold on to the helicopter as it carries you around the town. When the helicopter stops over a shed, let go and land on the shed roof.

Start a manual when a nearby skater asks to see a few tricks. To do a manual, press "Up" and then "Down" quickly. Use the left and right directional pad buttons to balance while in a manual. Press any other buttons to do some tricks while in the manual.

Stop doing tricks when the skater says he has seen enough. Bank drop, or jump, off the roof and land on the couch. An icon appears on the map to show where the skate ranch is. Skate back to the ranch before the time runs out to run away from the helicopter and claim the couch for the ranch.

Tips & Warnings
If you have trouble balancing while in a manual, use the "perfect manual balance" cheat code. To enter it, open the options menu. Select the cheat codes option. Type "2wheels!" to activate the cheat.
