How to Make a Clockwheel for a SAM Broadcaster
Sam Broadcaster allows you to broadcast as an Internet radio station from your home computer, live or through built-in automation tools such as the Clockwheel Rotation tool. Clockwheel Rotation lets you organize your music into categories and broadcast song in those categories based on artist or how recently the song has been broadcast. You can save multiple clockwheels and swap them based on the time of day or day of the week, giving you complete control over your automated broadcast.

Open SAM Broadcaster. Click “File” and then “Config.”

Click “Playlist Rotation Rules.” Type the number of minutes for how often songs, albums and artists should repeat in the text boxes next to each playlist rule or use the “Up” and “Down” arrows next to the text boxes to change the number of minutes.

Click “Configure” in the Playlist Logic Modules panel to create a new clockwheel. Click “Category.” Click a category from the Select A Category window and click the radio button next to a selection method. You can choose selection methods such as “Most Recently Played Artist” or “Least Recently Played Song.” Click “OK.”

Click “Category” again to add music from another category. You can also select the same category if you want to play two songs in a row from the same category. Choose a selection method and click “OK.”

Click “Save” to save your new clockwheel. Enter a name for the CWF file in the File Name text box and click the “Save” button.

Tips & Warnings
You can create as many categories for your music as you want. For example, if you station plays jazz and blues music, you might want separate categories for old jazz, modern jazz, early blues, acoustic blues and electric blues.
You can create multiple clockwheels to broadcast different programming at different times. For example, if your station plays jazz and blues, you might have a mixed clockwheel of jazz and blues for Monday through Friday programming, and separate clockwheels to play only jazz on Saturday and only blues on Sunday.
