How to Install Rotary Lift Anchors

If you want to do your own automobile repair, having a car lift will allow you to raise your auto to have more space under the car to work. If you plan to use a lift from the Rotary company, you will need to anchor the lift in your concrete floor to stabilize the lift. If you buy your lift new, the anchors and instructions may come with the lift, but you can install your own anchors even if you don't have the parts supplied by the Rotary company.

  • Masonry or hammer drill with 3/4-inch carbide drill tip
  • Anchors that are 4 inches long and 7/8 inch in diameter

Instructions

    • 1

Drill your guiding hole into the concrete. Use your drill with the carbide tip and drill 4 1/4 inches into the concrete. Keep the drill perpendicular to the floor to make sure the hole is straight and do not apply excessive pressure to the drill.

    • 2

      Clean the guiding hole.

    • 3

Assemble the nut and washer on the anchor bolt.

    • 4

Run the nut down just below the impact portion of the anchor.

    • 5

Drive the anchor into the hole using a hammer until the nut and washer are in contact with the concrete floor.

    • 6

Tighten the nut using the torque wrench to a pressure of 150 foot pounds.

Tips & Warnings

  • All anchors must be installed at least 5 11/16 inches away from any seam in the concrete.

  • If your concrete is not hard or thick enough to hold the anchors, they will slip and become loose. You will need to tear up the old concrete and replace with the proper strength and depth.
