How to Remove an Access List on the PIX

Access lists add an additional layer of security on a PIX firewall to check all inbound and outbound traffic coming into the network. If you want to allow traffic from a less secure, but known to be safe site, you can add an access list permitting access of the desired interface. If you no longer wish to grant access to the site, you can remove the access list from your PIX firewall configuration.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to the PIX firewall.

    • 2

Type “hostname# configure terminal” and press “Enter” to enter the Global Configuration Mode.

    • 3

Type “clear configure access-list[id]” with the [id] being the name or number of the access list.

    • 4

      Press “Enter.”
