How to Troubleshoot a Cisco Unified Meeting

How to Troubleshoot a Cisco Unified Meeting thumbnail
Cisco Unified Meeting was designed for remote business conferencing.

Cisco Unified MeetingPlace lets business professionals set up what are known as Cisco Unified Meetings, wherein employees can congregate via their computers and phones for a Internet-based conference. The platform supports audio, video and web technologies. Problems are typically encountered by scheduling a meeting or while moderating one.

Instructions

  1. Scheduling Meeting

    • 1

Try changing the meeting ID if, when trying to schedule a meeting, you receive the following error: "Schedule Meeting failed." It is possible that you did not choose a unique ID. Also, ensure that you entered all the required information, such as the date, time and duration.

    • 2

Change the date and time of the meeting if, when trying to schedule a Web and voice meeting, you are only given the option to schedule an audio-only meeting. This means that there are not enough Web licenses available for the particular time frame that you chose.

    • 3

Avoid scheduling meetings through Microsoft Outlook. Instead, always stick to using Cisco's Web interface. Outlook does not support updates, meaning that none of the invitees will be notified if you make a change to the meeting.

    Moderating Meeting

    • 4

Make certain that you log into a meeting using your profiled user account if you discover that you lack moderator privileges. This means Cisco logged you in as a guest and will therefore only have presenter permissions.

    • 5

Merge the two entries if you note that a participant is listed twice. This likely occurred because a participant entered as a guest, renamed himself, left the room, entered as a guest and renamed himself again.

    • 6

Click the document or application that you are trying to share if your meeting participants only see a blue box with a checked pattern. Unless the application is brought to the front of your desktop, your participants won't see it.

    Moderating Voice and Video Meetings

    • 7

Click the participant in the Participant list and then adjust the volume slider if a particular participant's voice is so low that nobody can hear him.

    • 8

Select the participant from the Participant list and click the mute button if you suspect background noise is coming from a particular participant.

    • 9

Adjust your video bit rate if you cannot see your video in the Cisco Unified Video Advantage screen. Perform this by opening the "Settings" menu in the console, selecting "Video Quality" and moving the slider down.
