How to Replace the Front Bezel on a Toshiba 6000

The front bezel on the Toshiba Satellite Pro 6000 hides the metal cage that secures the LCD screen to the lid. Although the bezel isn't a central component, it improves the appearance of the notebook, protecting the video cables from damage. The front bezel is one of the easier components to replace on the notebook.

      Turn off the Toshiba 6000. Disconnect the AC adapter and all other devices. Confirm that the indicator lights on the front of the notebook are off.

      Turn over the notebook. Unlock the tab that secures the battery to the computer, then slide the lever to eject the battery. Take the battery out of the PC.

      Return the notebook to its normal position. Open the computer and push the screen back as far as possible without damaging the hinges.

      Wedge the tip of a small screwdriver into the screw caps lining the front bezel on the Toshiba Satellite Pro. Pry the caps out of their holes.

      Remove the screws securing the front bezel to the lid. Pull back on the bottom edge of the bezel.

      Work around the edge of the monitor, detaching the front bezel from each side of the screen.

      Line up the tabs on the replacement bezel with the slots on the lid. Push the bezel down onto the monitor, keeping clear of the LCD screen.

      Screw the bezel in place. Then replace the screw caps.
