How to Reprogram a Chimes Card

Make your doorbell chime something other than, "Ding-dong!"

The same chime over and over again from your doorbell let you know when guests have arrived -- but it's also driving you nuts. Try changing up the sound your door chimes make my reprogramming the chimes card. With a USB sound card, you can reprogram your chimes card and even upload music files or recording of your children's voices.

Things You'll Need

• Door chime that operates on a USB sound card
• USB sound card
• Door chime software

Instructions

1. Remove the entire door chime from the wall. Remove the USB sound card from the unit.

2. Plug the USB sound card into the computer.

3. Open the chime software to access the USB sound card.

4. Upload a sound file using the software's interface. Edit the sound file as needed, be it trimming or converting the file.

5. Upload the file onto the USB sound card using the software's interface. This process may take a few minutes.

6. Unplug the USB sound card from the computer and plug it into the door chime. Attach the door chime back in place.

7. Test the new chimes by ringing the doorbell.

Tips & Warnings

• Record your own sound and upload it onto the computer if you wish to have your children's voices, your voice or another sound as your door chime.
