How to Troubleshoot an Invalid FeedBurner Email Subscription

There are only a few reasons Feedburner's email subscription feature doesn't work that you have control over. If the service is temporarily down on Feedburner's end, for example, you'll simply have to wait until it's back up and running. Still, you'll want to perform some basic troubleshooting if your email subscription service isn't working with your site.

Instructions

  1. Verify your Feed URL is Correct

    • 1

Sign in to your Feedburner account. Click on "Edit Feed Details."

    • 2

Check the URL to verify the feed URL is correct. If the URL is broken, change it to your correct feed address. The feed address varies depending on the content management system you use. Commonly used feed URLs include /feed and /rss.xml.

    • 3

Click on "Save Feed Details" to save the changes to the original feed URL.

Make Sure Email Subscriptions are Enabled

    • 4

Sign in to Feedburner and click on the "Publicize" tab.

    • 5

      Click on "Email Subscriptions."

    • 6

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and verify the message reads "This service is active." If it doesn't, click on "Activate" to activate email subscriptions.

    Use the Raw Link Code

    • 7

Sign in to Feedburner and click on "Publicize." Click on the "Email Subscription" link.

    • 8

Click on "Subscription Management." Highlight and copy the code in the "Subscription Link Code" box.

    • 9

Replace the code on your site (or the widget) with the raw link code. Test the subscription link to verify it works.
