Find your stored Google Maps favorites on a new phone or mobile device.

Each time you click the star icon beside a favorite place in Google Maps search results, Google adds the item to your favorites list so that you can access it from Google Maps on any computer, phone or mobile device, provided you’re logged into your Google Account. To transfer Google Maps starred favorites to a new phone, sign in to your existing Google Account through your phone’s Web browser or the Google Mobile application.

Instructions

  1. Access Google Maps Favorites With Google Mobile

    • 1

Tap or click the Google Mobile app icon button on your phone’s screen.

    • 2

Click or tap the “Sign In” link at the top of the screen above the Google logo.

    • 3

Type your Google Account user email address and password into the applicable input boxes. If you have more than one Google Account, enter login details for the account that you used to store your Google Maps starred favorites. Tap the “Sign In” button.

    • 4

Tap or click the “Apps” button at the bottom of the screen. Select the “Maps” icon button in the list of available Google services. Tap the “Local” tab to access your Google Maps starred favorites.

Access Google Maps Favorites With Your Phone’s Web Browser

    • 5

Launch your phone’s Web browser and go to Google.com.

    • 6

Tap or click the blue “Sign In” link at the bottom of the screen. Enter your Google Account user email address and password into the respective input boxes.

    • 7

Click or tap the “More” tab in the top menu. Select the “Maps” icon button. On some mobile phones, Google automatically switches to the mobile version of the Web page, so tap the “Local” tab to view your Google Maps starred favorites. If your phone’s browser displays Google in “classic” mode instead of “mobile” mode, select the “My Places” tab, then select “Starred Items.”

Tips & Warnings

  • Scroll to the bottom of the screen to find out if you’re viewing Google in “mobile” or “classic” mode. Google displays this information beside the “View Google In” label above the copyright notice at the bottom of the page.
