How to Sync Highrise Contacts With Apple

Using vCards, you can sync your contacts on Highrise with your Address Book on any Apple computer. Both Highrise and the Mac Address Book include import and export utilities for the vCard VCF format. At the time of publication, Highrise ignores duplicate contacts that you import. Address Book will update changes in current contact.

Instructions

Import to Highrise

1. Open your Mac Address Book. Click the “All Contacts” group in the left menu, then press the "Command" and "A" keys to select all of the contacts in the Name field. Drag them onto the desktop to create a vCard, with a VCF file extension for each contact.

2. Open a Web browser and log in to Highrise. Click “Contacts.” Click the “Import” link in the sidebar, then select “Upload a vCard File.”

3. Go to the vCard on your desktop and click the “Upload and Import” button. A list of data fields appears. Highrise data fields are listed on the left, and sample data from the vCard is listed on the right.

4. Verify that each Highrise field corresponds to the vCard data. For example, “Full Name” should be next to the person’s full name. “Work City” should be next to the person’s workplace city.

5. Click “Import These Contacts.” Duplicate contacts will be skipped without being imported.

Import to Mac

1. Open a new browser window and log in to Highrise. Click “Contacts,” then click the “Export” link in the sidebar.

2. Select “Export Multiple-person vCard.” If you have less than 100 contacts, the download will begin immediately. If you have 100 or more contacts, Highrise will begin exporting them and will send you an email with the file attached when the export is complete. Save the file to your desktop.

3. Open the Mac Address Book. Click the “File” menu and select “Import.” Go to the VCF file you downloaded from Highrise. Click “Open.” Address Book will import the files. Duplicate contacts will appear in a box. Click “Import” to update your Address Book contacts with the information from Highrise, or click “Review Duplicates” to review each contact individually before importing them.

Tips & Warnings

• If you need to change a contact's phone number or email address, you should do this in Highrise. Address Book will accept the changes when you import the new information. If you change a phone number in Address Book, the changes will be ignored in Highrise when you import it from your computer.
