How to Micro Adjust a Throttle Cable With Heavy Equipment
The throttle cable's job is to adjust the revolutions per minute, or rpms, of the engine according to the operator's input. This cable has been largely replaced by computer-controlled systems on modern equipment. If your heavy machinery uses a carbureted engine, you can adjust the throttle cable to raise or lower the engine's idle speed. This is done by simply turning an adjustment screw at the carburetor until the engine idles at the desired speed.
Instructions

1
Open the engine cowling to provide access to the heavy equipment's engine. This is commonly done by releasing a few latches and lifting it open with your hands.
-
2
Locate the engine's carburetor. It is typically near the top of the engine and is located where the throttle cable meets the engine. Consult the equipment's owner's manual for its exact location if you are having difficulty locating the carburetor.

-
3
Find the screw directly attached to the throttle cable's linkage at the carburetor.
-
4
Turn the screw clockwise to raise the engine's idle speed.
-
5
Turn the screw counterclockwise to lower the engine's idle speed.
