How to Run an Emulator From an SD Card for DSI

The Nintendo DSi allows you to take games with you wherever you go -- both Nintendo DS games and any games you have an emulator and ROM file for. Emulators are programs that mimic video game consoles -- for instance, a Super Nintendo emulator mimics the Super Nintendo console. It is legal to have a ROM file, provided that you also own a copy of the original game. You're not legally allowed to use a ROM if you don't own the game.

  • Insert your SD card into the available SD slot on your Nintendo DSi.

  • Turn on your Nintendo DSi.

  • Open the "Systems" folder by selecting it from your list of folders.

  • Tap "Devices." This will show you any applications that exist on your SD card.

  • Select "SNESmulDS." Press "X" to run the application.

  • Select the game you want to play from the list of available roms, then press "X."
