How to Stack a DVR Card
Stacking more than one digital video recorder card is possible when your computer's motherboard has two or more open Peripheral Component Interconnect slots. For example, if you had four open PCI slots and four DVR cards that supported two-channel recording, then you'd have a combined stack of eight video channels to record with. Inserting a DVR card in your system is the same as installing other PCI cards, such as a sound device or TV adapter.

1
Press the power button to turn off your computer, and then unplug its cable from the power source. For your safety, never work with or touch the inside of a computer while it's powered on.
-
2
Remove the computer casing screws with the Phillips screwdriver, and then pry the case covering from the case structure to expose the system innards.

3
Locate the long PCI slot on the motherboard. With motherboards that support multiple PCI slots, you'll find the slots lined up in a row. You may find anywhere from two to six slot openings on the board.
-
4
Insert the DVR card with the bottom pins pointed down into the open PCI slot. Use pressure to force the card down, but make sure it's perfectly aligned as you do it. You hear a click as it locks into the slot.
-
5
Insert the second DVR card into another PCI slot. Again, insert the card with pins down and locking it firmly in the slot. Repeat for a third or fourth card.
-
6
Place the covering back onto the case structure and put the screws back in place.
