How to Attach a Letter to a Crochet Blanket
Attach a letter to a crochet blanket using a blanket stitch. The blanket stitch is a decorative embroidery stitch that adds a clean, finished edge to letters and appliques. Use matching yarn and a blunt needle to attach a crochet letter to a crochet blanket. Match cotton thread or embroidery floss with a chenille or sharp sewing needle to sew a cloth letter to a crochet blanket. The trick to blanket stitch bordering is to space the stitches evenly around the edge of the letter.

1
Pin the letter to the front side of the crochet blanket. Lift the edge of the letter where the first stitch will begin. Insert the threaded needle, from front to back, through the blanket. Secure the thread, yarn or embroidery floss to the blanket with a knot. Bring the needle back through to the front of the blanket, just outside of the letters edge. Pull the thread through the thread hole and lay the thread-line to the right.

2
Gauge a distance to equal one single crochet stitch from the thread hole to the inner edge of the letter. Place the point of the needle on the inner edge and in a straight line with the thread hole at the outer edge. Insert the needle halfway through the front side of the letter and through the blanket. Point the needle toward the letters edge. Align the needle to appear through the same thread hole, previously made at the letters edge. Pull the tread through to complete the first stitch.

Use the size of one single crochet stitch to evenly gauge the size and distance between each blanket stitch. Keep the thread-line to the right. Align the needle to match the length of the first stitch. Insert the needle halfway through the letter and blanket. Bring the needle point straight out at the edge of the letter. Place the thread-line under the needle. Pull the tread through the thread hole to create a loop and complete the second stitch.

4
Continue the blanket stitch pattern following the edge of the letter. Corners can be stitched diagonally. Insert the needle through the front side of the letter and blanket. Point the needle to align with the peak of the corner. Bring the needle out at the outer edge of the peak. Lay the thread-line under the needle and pull the thread through the thread hole. Secure the completely boarded letter by knotting the thread on the backside of the blanket.
