How to Configure the Streaming Speed on Netflix

How to Configure the Streaming Speed on Netflix thumbnail
Netflix provides both physical and streaming video delivery.

The Netflix website allows you to watch streaming videos on your computer or television. When you're watching a movie or television show on Netflix, the video stream can take up a large portion of your Internet bandwidth, causing other devices connected to your modem to lag. To solve this issue, limit the speed at which Netflix transmits video data to your computer by using the configuration options on the Netflix website.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to your Netflix account. Click the "My Account & Help" link.

    • 2

Click the "Manage Video Quality" link in the Manage Account section of the webpage that opens.

    • 3

Click the radio button next to the desired streaming speed. The "Good" option limits the speed of video transmission to approximately 300 megabytes per hour, while the "Better" option allows Netflix to transmit about 700 megabytes per hour. The "Best" option sets the transmission speed to 1 gigabyte per hour of normal-quality video or 2.3 gigabytes of high-definition video.

    • 4

Click "Save" to apply the new speed to your Netflix account.
