How to Get a Featured Image From a Post on WordPress
Twenty Eleven, the default theme for WordPress blogs, devotes a large portion of the top of the screen to displaying a "featured image" that the blog owner selects when creating a post or page. You can get the featured image from a post on WordPress by right-clicking it and selecting "Save Picture As" on the context menu. However, the resulting file may not be the same as the original because WordPress crops a featured image to a resolution of 1000-by-288 pixels. Change the file name to download the original image.

1
Navigate in your browser to a WordPress post containing a featured image that you want to download. Right-click the featured image and select "Properties" on the context menu. A new window titled "Properties" appears.
-
2
Highlight the contents of the "Address (URL)" field in the "Properties" window. This address is the direct link to the featured image. A typical link to a featured image on a WordPress website using the Twenty Eleven theme looks something like "http://website.com/uploads/2011/11/image-1000x288.jpg." Right-click the URL and select "Copy." Close the "Properties" window.

-
3
Remove the current contents of the address bar at the top of the browser window. Press "Ctrl" and "V" simultaneously to paste the link to the featured image.
-
4
Remove "-1000x288" from the link. The link now looks something like "http://website.com/uploads/2011/11/image.jpg."
-

Press "Enter." The browser displays the full version of the featured image.

6
Right-click the image and select "Save Picture As" or "Save Image As" to save it on your computer.
