How to Count Profile Views on Tumblr thumbnail
President Obama launched a tumblelog in October 2011.

The microblogging site Tumblr debuted in 2007 as a tool for quickly posting links, quotes, photos, chat logs, videos and audio files. Tumblr hosts more than 30 million blogs, with 3.1 billion page views per week, at the time of publication. Hit counters, also known as website or profile counters, help you keep track of how many people visit your tumblelog daily. They come in different shapes, sizes and colors, with graphics or simple text. To add a hit counter to your blog, you need to incorporate the appropriate HTML code into your Tumblr theme.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch your Web browser and navigate to a website with hit counters. Examples include Hit-counter.info, Freehostedscripts.net and Snazzyspace.com.

    • 2

Select a hit counter style. Hit-counter.info has numerical counters and no graphics, but you can choose from a variety of color combinations. Freehostedscripts.net offers graphic, numerical and text styles. Snazzyspace.com has text hit counters with different colored backgrounds.

    • 3

Fill in any necessary information, such as the URL of your blog and a starting count, then click the button to generate the HTML code. Highlight the block of code and copy it. The exact procedure varies according to the counter provider.

    • 4

Navigate to Tumblr.com, sign in to your account and go to your blog. Click "Customize Appearance" to bring up the Themes panel.

    • 5

Paste the code into your Description box and click "Save." Close the Themes panel, go to your blog and click "Open" to view the hit counter in a new browser window.
