How to Get iPhone Movies to Show Closed Captions

How to Get iPhone Movies to Show Closed Captions thumbnail
Movies purchased on the iPhone should be synced to your computer as a backup.

Though its screen is small, your iPhone can play TV shows and movies purchased in the iTunes Store. Closed captioning for your movies displays the audio associated with the video in written form; for example, the dialogue of movie characters is shown as text on the screen as they speak. Enabling closed captioning takes just a few seconds. If the movie you purchase is not equipped with closed captioning, however, turning the feature on will not generate them.

Instructions

    • 1

Tap the "Settings" icon on your iPhone home screen.

    • 2

Scroll down to the third group of options in the "Settings" menu and tap "Video."

    • 3

Tap the silver circle immediately to the right of the "Closed Captioning" line -- just to the left of the word "Off" -- to toggle the setting into the "On" position. As soon as you toggle the setting to "On," the change is saved to your phone.
