How to Catch Likitung in "SoulSilver"

Lickitungs are fond of roaming in the grass.

"Pokemon SoulSilver" is one of a seemingly endless series of Pokemon video games, which found a new audience when the original Game Boy Color version was remade and updated for the Nintendo DS. Like all the other games in the series, SoulSilver is about catching Pokemon and using their powers in futuristic battles against other monsters. Among the many types of Pokemon to be hunted is Lickitung, and capturing one lets monster owners use the "Own Tempo" and "Oblivious" abilities. Finding one is a matter of being in the right place at the right time.

Instructions

1. Defeat Archer -- the leader of Team Rocket -- in the Radio tower and return to Mahogany Town.

2. Travel east along the path that opens up after Archer's defeat.

3. Hunt for Lickitung in the Route 44 grasslands between Mahogany town and the Ice Path at the other end of the road. The Lickitung has the same 15 percent chance to appear during Pokemon's three time periods of morning, day and night. Once you locate one, engage it in battle and defeat it -- to catch it and add another Pokemon to your collection.

Tips & Warnings

• Don't give up if you don't find Lickitung during your first day on the hunt. Eventually, the odds will play in your favor and one will appear.

• Route 44 gives you the option of taking an upper path or a lower one. You will encounter a greater number of trainers along the lower path.

• Free-roaming Lickitungs have a 5 percent chance of dropping a Lagging Tail, which forces a Pokemon to take action after all others have already done so.

• "Oblivious" makes a Lickitung immune to "Attract."

• "Own Tempo" makes a Lickitung immune to "Confusion."
