How to Clean Yellowed Guitar Binding

No matter what instrument you play, taking care of it is important to increasing its lifespan and maintaining its playability. However, there are limits to what you can prevent from happening. For example, the white binding on your guitar will begin to turn yellow as it ages -- this is inevitable -- and although you cannot remove this yellowing, you can still clean your guitar to slow down its progress.

Instructions

    • 1

Wipe the binding of your guitar with a soft cloth after every use to remove your finger oils and prints from the guitar, giving it a quick clean.

    • 2

Use a guitar cleaner. Spray a little onto the binding and wipe it with a soft cloth. Follow the same general method of use no matter which of the many available brands you use.

    • 3

Use polish on your binding. To avoid too much buildup on your binding, try to only apply polish where you notice deterioration.
