As of 2011, Barnes and Noble offers over 2 million books for Nook devices.

The Nook Color eReader is a product sold by Barnes and Noble that allows you to read multiple books from the comfort of a flat touch-screen device. Once you purchase eBooks through your Barnes and Noble account, they are downloaded wirelessly to your Nook. If your Nook becomes full of content, older books are simply stored in your Barnes and Noble library. Once a book is open on the device, there are a few different ways to get to different pages within the book.

Instructions

  1. Turning Pages

    • 1

Tap your finger anywhere along the right edge of the screen to turn to the next page in the book.

    • 2

Tap your finger anywhere along the left edge of the screen to turn to the previous page in the book.

    • 3

Swipe your finger from right to left to turn to the next page. Conversely, swiping your finger from left to right turns to the previous page. Note, either Step 1 and 2 or Step 3 work.

    Using the Slider

    • 4

Locate the "Slider" at the bottom of your screen. This is a gray bar with a blue dot. The far left represents page one. The far right will have the number of the last page in the book. For example, if the book has 475 pages, the left will have no number, while the right will say 475.

    • 5

Press your finger against the blue dot.

    • 6

Slide the blue dot along the bottom bar. Move the blue dot anywhere along the left or right of the bar to move forward or backward in the book, respectively. This tool is useful if you wish to navigate to a distant area of the book.

    Reading Tools Menu

    • 7

Locate the "Reading Tools Menu" below the "Slider" bar. There are five different sections: "Contents," "Search," "Share," "Text" and "Brightness." The first two allow you to navigate to different places in the book.

    • 8

Press on the contents tab with your finger. The book's table of contents appears with the chapter you are in highlighted. Tap any chapter with your finger and you'll immediately be taken to the first page of that chapter.

    • 9

Press the search tab with your finger. You'll then be able to enter search words or phrases using a keypad that appears. After hitting "Search," you'll be directed to the first time those words or phrases appear in the book. Click "Next" to find the next time that term is used. Repeat as you wish until you've located all words or phrases you were searching for throughout the book.

Tips & Warnings

  • Nook has an app that allows you to read content on other devices. For example, if you download the Nook app on your smartphone, books can be read on that device. When you open your Nook Color eReader, you'll automatically be taken to the last page you've read.

  • Add a bookmark to any page by tapping the top right corner. A blue "bookmark" appears. Next time you open that book in your Nook, you'll automatically be taken to that page.
