The first Barnes and Noble Nook Tablet Reader debuted in 2009 as an ereader for viewing books, magazines and newspapers on a black-and-white screen. The device has been updated several times and now features a full-color screen that allows users to use the Internet for video streaming and email as well. Users can even download pictures and movies from a PC or Mac computer to the device with a USB cable for viewing on the Nook's 7-inch screen.

Instructions

  1. PC Download

    • 1

      Insert the USB cable into the USB port of your computer and plug the smaller side of the cord into the bottom of the Nook. This is the charger cord for your Nook.

      Double-click the "My Computer" icon on your desktop or select "Computer" from your start menu. Double-click the "Nook" icon located in the window. This opens your Nook files.

      Click on the start menu and select "Administrator" or the name of the user from the top right side of the menu. Select "Videos" from the menu on the left of the screen. Double-click the folder where the videos you want to upload are located.

      Hover over the video to check the format of the video. The video needs to be in MP4, 3gp, 3g2, M4V or OGG format to play on the Nook. Click the image and hold it as you drag the movie icon into the Nook folder.

    Mac Download

      Insert the USB cable into the USB jack on your computer. Insert the smaller end into the port located at the bottom of the Nook.

      Double-click the Nook icon that appears on the Mac desktop. This reveals the contents of your Nook.

      Open the finder window and double-click the "My Files" folder. Navigate to the "Movies" found in the second column, and click once to select it. Find the movie you want to download. Click and drag it to the Nook folder to download.
