How to Do Feather Wraps With Tracks
Jazzing up your hair is a surefire way to boost your sense of style. Feather wraps with tracks merge two distinct looks into one solid fashion statement. Shoulder length hair, for example, is long enough to make tracks with just enough remaining to finish up with a wrap. Tracks--or cornrows, as they are traditionally known, according to the website CareFair--consist of tight hair braids that run the length of your scalp. Alternatively, feather wrapping your remaining hair--hair that hangs down from the neck--adds a wild flair to the rigid look of cornrows. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Fill an 8-ounce spray bottle with warm, fresh water. Spray your hair with water until it's damp. Comb your damp hair to remove any knots and ensure that all locks are loose and straight.
-
2
Pinch one square inch of hair beginning at the nape of the neck. Divide the one square inch of hair into three distinct sections.
-
-
3
Braid the sections together: cross the left strand over the center strand. The left strand is now at the center. Cross the right strand over the center strand. The right strand is now at the center. Continue braiding in this fashion until two-thirds of the section is completely braided. Secure the braid with a hair clip where the braid meets the remaining loose hanging hair. Continue the braiding process--repeating Step 2 and 3--moving up toward the forehead until all hair is sectioned off and clipped.

4
Pull all of the braided strands backward. Wrap one elastic hair tie around all of the strands. Remove the hair clips. The tracks should now pull flush and tightly against your scalp, while the free hanging hair hangs out of the back of the hair tie in one large clump.
-
5
Lather your hands with one tablespoon of hair gel. Run your fingers through the free hanging strands of hair to give the locks density and hold. Shape the locks by bending them in a curved, clockwise fashion to give the impression that the hair is wrapping around in a circle. Allow the strands to remain a little messy and haphazard to give the look a relaxed image. Add additional hair gel if necessary.
-
6
Coat the wrapped locks in hair spray for extra hold. Allow 15 minutes for the gel and spray to dry before exposing the hairdo to breeze or wind. Remove cornrows after eight weeks of consecutive wear.
