How to Hook Up a Built-In Electrolux Double Oven

Electrolux manufactures many types of high-end appliances, including washing machines, refrigerators, ranges and built-in ovens. Electrolux built-in ovens require a 240-volt, 30-amp power supply. Rather than connecting a power cord to the oven, the oven must be wired directly to the home's electrical system in a junction box. Depending on the building codes in place at the time of the construction of your home, the junction box has three or four wires that must be connected to the double oven. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Ensure that the oven breaker is in the "Off" position prior to beginning the connection.

    • 2

Remove the junction box cover by removing the screw securing it in place.

    • 3

Install a U.L.-listed conduit connector on the bottom of the junction box, and then pass the conduit wire from the wall oven into the junction box. Secure the conduit wire to the junction box using the U.L.-listed conduit connector. Refer to the instructions included with the conduit connector for proper installation and usage directions.

Insert the end of the red wire from the wall oven and the end of the red wire from the junction box into a wire nut. Twist the wire nut clockwise to securely connect the two wires.

    • 5

Insert the end of the black wire from the wall oven and the end of the black wire from the junction box into a wire nut. Twist the wire nut clockwise to securely connect the two wires.

    • 6

Look at the number of junction box wires present in the box. If there four wires coming from the junction box, insert the end of the white wire from the wall oven and the end of the white wire from the junction box into a wire nut. Twist the wire nut clockwise to securely connect the two wires. If there are only three wires, skip to step six without connecting the white wires.

    • 7

Loosen the grounding screw, located in the center of the junction box. Wrap the green grounding wire from the oven's conduit around the grounding screw post. If there four wires coming from the junction box, connect the green or bare grounding wire around the grounding screw. If there are only three wires coming from the junction box, connect the white wire from both the junction box and the oven to the grounding screw, along with the range's green grounding wire.
